MAGPUPUNGKO ROCK POOLS
Magpupungko are pools formed on rocks that are home to a whole variety of reef wildlife –like coral and small colorful fish– which make them insanely beautiful. It is highly recommended to visit them during low tide, because they are invisible during high tide.
- Location: The Magpupungko rock pools are 23 km from Bravo Beach Resort.
- Details: The average duration of the activity is 2.5 to 3 hours. (Entrance Fee for non-locals: 50 PHP)
- Recommendations: As we said, make sure you visit the pools during low tide as current gets strong during high tide. Ask our staff for the tidal schedule!
SUGBA LAGOON
Sugba Lagoon is a pristine water lagoon where you can snorkel and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. You can also jump from the two-storey Kubo into the water.
- Location: Sugba Lagoon is located north of the town of Del Carmen on the west side of Siargao.
- Details: The trip is 45 minutes ride to Del Carmen plus 20 minutes boat ride to the lagoon. The overall activity takes from 8am to 4 pm approximately, plus a picnic to the Kawhagan Island, a popular sand-bar. (Price 2,000 PHP).
- Recommendations Thetour is best enjoyed during sunny days!
SOHOTON COVE
The Sohoton Cove needs to be seen to be believed – the only entrance to this maze of limestone islets is a cave that vanishes during high tide, decorated with stalactites of all kinds of shapes.The Sohoton Natural Park is really worth the journey.
- Location: The park is located in a rustic town in the southern tip of the Island of Bucas Grande.
- Details: Sohoton Caves is a full day trip. It consists of a 2.5 hours boat ride, followed by a 10-minute banca ride. (Price: 2,300 PHP).
- Recommendations: Heavy rain can cause flash floods and the park is often closed during the wettest months of December to February. Make sure to visit during low tide.
TAKTAK FALLS
Though not virgin or gigantic, the Taktak waterfalls can be a refreshing change of scenery, a break from the long stretches of seascapes and the horizon. Here you have something fresh and cool to hang out with your mates.
- Location: Taktak falls are located in Sta. Monica, at the very North of the island of Siargao.
- Details: You will need a two-hour bike ride to get there, the rest will depend on the time you spend at the falls. (Entrance Fee: 50 PHP)
- Recommendations: Try not to go during the weekends as local kids love to go there and play, and they don't enjoy the silence as much as you might.
ISLAND HOPPING
A boat ride to the picture perfect islands you probably have on your screensaver.These absolutely beautiful islands are a few hundred meters from General Luna, but remain as if no human had stepped on them yet. Snorkel, explore and relax.
- Location: These islands, namely Guyam, Naked, and Daku, are a few hundred meters from Bravo Beach Resort. We will provide you with a boat for this activity.
- Details: The length of this experience is around 6 hours overall. (Price: 1200 PHP/person).
- Suggestions: Bring your camera with you; ask for snorkel gear, don't forget the sunscreen.
ANAHAWAN & LA JANOSA ISLANDS
Inhabited exclusively by a small native village, La Janosa and its virgin smaller sister Mam-on Island are perfect for scuba diving. You can also surf several uncrowded spots.
Location: The islands are 15 km south from General Luna
Details: This should be a half or daylong trip. Boat ride of 30 minutes to 1 hour, depending on the sea conditions. There are plenty of boatmen for hire near the General Luna Wet Market (price for the boat is negotiable).
Suggestions: Do not forget your sunscreen, bring your camera with you and ask for snorkel gear.
TAYANGBAN CAVE POOL
The Cave Pool at Siargao was just recently discovered and is definitely a must-see; swimming in the natural pools and exploring caves are just the beginning. The spring-fed pool appeared as if it had been carved out from the solid limestone wall that enveloped it.
- Location: The Tayangban cave pool is located on the way to Pilar – just 30 minutes from Bravo Beach Resort Siargao.
- Details: This experience has two parts, pool and cave. In the pool you can spend all the time you want to, and the cave tour is about 20 minutes. (Price: ~150 PHP).
- Recommendations: We recommend asking for the cave tour because sometimes they don't offer it and it's the best part of the experience.
